About the role As Pearson Virtual Schools (PVS) continues to grow, the Advanced Specialist, Commercial Finance will play a critical role in evaluating, optimising, and supporting commercial opportunities across the business. Partnering closely with Finance, Deal Desk, Sales, and operational stakeholders, you will use your analytical expertise to assess new business opportunities, renewals, pricing scenarios, and broader commercial initiatives. Drawing upon your experience in transaction advisory, financial due diligence, consulting, or commercial finance, you will help ensure key decisions are supported by robust financial analysis and clear commercial insight. This role is ideal for someone looking to leverage the core skills developed within Transaction Advisory Services (TAS), Financial Due Diligence (FDD), M&A Advisory, or consulting and apply them within a growing commercial environment where they can broaden their commercial finance and deal support experience. You will operate at the intersection of finance and commercial operations, providing financial rigour, challenging assumptions, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting data-driven business decisions that balance growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability. What you’ll do Build, evaluate, and maintain detailed financial models supporting new business opportunities, renewals, strategic initiatives, and complex commercial scenarios Analyse key business drivers including revenue, profitability, pricing structures, customer economics, and operating costs to assess financial sustainability Support commercial decision-making through financial analysis, scenario modelling, and evaluation of strategic opportunities Partner with Finance, Sales, Deal Desk, and operational stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge assumptions Conduct financial due diligence and commercial assessments of business opportunities, identifying risks, opportunities, and key value drivers Develop pricing and profitability analyses to support commercial strategy and growth initiatives Support business case development and investment decisions through rigorous financial modelling and analysis Deliver reporting and insights on profitability trends, revenue performance, pricing effectiveness, and key financial metrics Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders Support process improvement initiatives to enhance commercial decision-making, reporting, governance, and scalability Own the integrity and accuracy of financial models, analyses, and recommendations Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing business decisions through structured, data-driven insights What we’re looking for Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field. Experience in Transaction Advisory Services (TAS), Financial Due Diligence (FDD), M&A Advisory, Corporate Finance Advisory, Deal Advisory, or a similar analytical consulting environment, with a track record of delivering financial insight and supporting commercial decision-making. Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to independently evaluate business performance, commercial opportunities, and financial risks. Experience working with complex datasets and translating financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making across a range of business functions. A proactive, growth-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Location & working pattern This role offers a flexible Remote working model, with expectations aligned to business and team needs. You will work closely with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams across the organisation. Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows: The minimum full-time salary range is between $115,000 - $135,000. You will act as an analytical backbone of Deal Desk, bringing financial rigor to deal processes while enabling high-impact strategic opportunities.
