Conduct all activities related to the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (SB 1196) and maintain instructor certification credentials. Monitor inquiries regarding behavior management and professional development through the district’s communication platform and forward these inquiries to the appropriate BHS personnel. Collaborate with various special education program personnel to improve effectiveness of behavior management classroom consistency across the district. Disseminate information and provide training for district staff, parents, and community groups on behavior-related topics such as behavior intervention plans, data collection methods, progress monitoring, and evidence-based practices. Distribute and retrieve special education materials based on inventory documentation. Serve as a Behavior Instructional Specialist as needed to augment the BHS staff. Confer regularly with the Supervisor to discuss trends and patterns that may suggest the need for revised procedures or practices. Manage all data and create reports as needed by the Supervisor. Report any barriers or roadblocks to effective behavior services to the Supervisor and participate in the development of strategies to remedy these issues. Maintain accurate case records and required accountability documentation, which will be monitored by the Supervisor. Attend professional development in special education, coaching, leadership, and any other behavior-related topics to remain up-to-date on current research regarding emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, learning differences, trauma, technology tools, social skills curriculum, etc.. Comply with all state and federal rules, laws, policies, and guidelines related to special education. Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity, accountability, and moral standards. Valid Texas teaching certification with a minimum of three years of successful teaching in a public or private school setting and Special Education endorsement. Proficiency in utilizing the district software and technology to create documents, analyze data, and write reports from the data, etc.. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats. Strong organizational skills and attention to details required to meet the goals of the position. Excellent interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a collaborative work style. Knowledge of state and federal special education laws. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
