To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What you'll be doing CIBC US provides tailored commercial banking, commercial real estate banking, private wealth management, personal and small business financial solutions, and cross-border banking services to clients with North American operations. As Director, Real Estate Management, you'll lead the ongoing management of a defined corporate real estate portfolio in the United States, with primary focus in the Chicago market and select national oversight across approximately 45 sites. You'll oversee real estate transactions, workplace planning, design, construction, facilities operations, lease administration, and vendor partnerships to ensure our spaces effectively support business needs today and into the future. In this role, you'll work closely with business leaders and enterprise partners to align real estate decisions with growth plans, regulatory requirements, workplace needs, and financial objectives. You'll also lead a team and third-party partners, ensuring projects and operations are delivered efficiently, thoughtfully, and with a strong focus on client and team member experience. To successfully perform the work, you will be on-site full-time. How you'll succeed Portfolio leadership and real estate management - Lead the strategy and day-to-day management of a defined U.S. corporate real estate portfolio, with a primary focus on Chicago and support for select national locations. Assess business needs, workplace standards, market conditions, and growth plans to inform leasing, site selection, dispositions, lease renewals, and portfolio optimization decisions. Workplace planning and project delivery - Direct workplace design, space planning, furniture, interior fit-out initiatives, and project execution across the portfolio. Lead real estate projects from planning and design through contractor sourcing, negotiations, and delivery. Facilities operations leadership - Oversee day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance across the portfolio, including building systems, landlord relationships, housekeeping, landscaping, mailroom services, office support, and occupant services. Ensure sites are safe, effective, and aligned with business and client needs. Financial and vendor management - Manage budgeting, financial reporting, lease administration, vendor payments, and real estate-related approvals. Build strong partnerships with brokers, architects, engineers, contractors, and service providers to deliver quality outcomes and strong value. Cross-functional partnership and governance - Collaborate with leaders across lines of business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Technology, Security, Human Resources, and enterprise real estate partners to support projects, business continuity, and regulatory alignment. Present recommendations and secure approvals for key real estate initiatives. People leadership - Lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and strong risk management. Provide direction, coaching, and oversight to employees and third-party partners to support successful execution across the portfolio. Who you are You are a caring and accountable leader. You can demonstrate experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, workplace planning, lease administration, design and construction delivery, budgeting, and vendor management. Experience supporting a regional or mid-sized multi-site corporate portfolio is strongly preferred. You bring relevant scope of experience. You have experience managing a portfolio of corporate office or business locations in a complex organization, ideally in a role with both strategic and operational responsibility. Experience overseeing approximately 30-60 sites or a similarly scaled portfolio is preferred. You're a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing in a relevant designation such as Certified Facility Manager (IFMA), Real Property Administrator (BOMA), or Master of Corporate Real Estate (CoreNet). It's an asset if you hold more than one industry-recognized real estate or facilities credential. You have relevant experience. You bring 5-10 years of experience in corporate real estate, facilities management, workplace strategy, or a related field, with strong knowledge of leases, contracts, construction documents, building operations, and financial analysis. This role has an expected salary range of $165,000 - $195,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
