IT & Information Security Manager at Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT & Information Security Manager based in the United States. We’re seeking a hands-on IT and Information Security Manager to own and strengthen IT operations and security in a fully remote, cloud-first organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll oversee Microsoft 365, identity and endpoint management, cloud data protection, and day-to-day technical support. You’ll translate security policies into practical, enforceable controls while maintaining audit readiness and protecting company systems and information. You’ll also extend identity governance across SaaS and AI platforms, improve backup and recovery capabilities, and guide the IT roadmap as the business grows. This is a high-ownership, individual-contributor role suited to someone who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on execution. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the function while collaborating with compliance leadership and a cross-functional security steering group. Accountabilities T operations and Microsoft 365 administration: Manage the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Oversee tenant security, external sharing, licensing, email protection, mail flow, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, filtering, and mailbox recovery. Administer Entra ID, including user and group lifecycle, privileged access, application registrations, password policies, and domain verification. Endpoint and device management: Administer Microsoft Intune for device enrollment, configuration, compliance policies, and updates. Maintain endpoint protections such as BitLocker and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, coordinate laptop procurement and shipping for remote employees, and securely retire or wipe returned devices. Mobile access and device governance: Implement mobile application management and device-compliance controls for personally owned phones and tablets, protecting company data on devices the organization does not own. Backup, recovery, and business continuity: Own backup and recovery for corporate cloud data, including independent third-party backups of Microsoft 365 and Dropbox. Document and test mailbox-, file-, and tenant-level restores, monitor backup jobs, maintain evidence of testing, and review and annually test business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Security and compliance: Enforce security controls through Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, data loss prevention, retention policies, web filtering, and DNS filtering. Monitor security alerts and sign-in logs, lead initial incident response, develop internal IT policies and procedures, and track security assessment findings through remediation with documented evidence. Audit and risk management: Support SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO/IEC 42001 requirements; coordinate responses to external audits, customer security questionnaires, and cyber insurance renewals. Partner with compliance leadership on audit readiness while maintaining a clear separation between control implementation and independent assurance. SaaS and third-party integrations: Manage single sign-on integrations, automated provisioning, application access, and SaaS lifecycle management. Evaluate vendors and tools, oversee supplier relationships, and identify opportunities to optimize licensing costs. AI systems and governance: Manage identity and access controls for AI platforms, including SSO federation, SCIM-based provisioning and deprovisioning, and domain verification. Restrict unapproved AI services, govern local data access and sharing, maintain approved-tool inventories, support access reviews and vendor risk assessments, and help facilitate annual incident response exercises that include AI-related scenarios. Helpdesk and employee support: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal IT requests in a remote-first environment. Handle onboarding and offboarding, account and license provisioning, laptop setup and shipping, troubleshooting, virtual meeting equipment guidance, and the day-to-day ticket queue. Vendor, budget, and technology strategy: Manage relationships with Microsoft resellers, SaaS providers, and hardware and shipping suppliers. Maintain a cloud-first IT roadmap, recommend tools and capabilities that improve security and efficiency, and report risk posture, remediation progress, residual risk, and funding recommendations to leadership. First-year priorities: Take ownership of Microsoft 365, Intune, and Entra ID configurations; strengthen technically enforced security controls; improve tested backup and recovery processes; expand identity governance across SaaS and AI platforms; and advance the security roadmap ahead of the next annual assessment. Requirements Experience: 5–8 or more years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID/Azure AD environments, including at least one role as the senior or sole IT owner. Endpoint management: Practical experience administering Microsoft Intune or Endpoint Manager for device enrollment, application management, configuration, compliance, and patching. Identity and security expertise: Strong understanding of Conditional Access, multifactor authentication (MFA), single sign-on (SSO), least-privilege access, Microsoft Defender, and endpoint security controls. Remote workforce support: Experience supporting distributed teams and managing device procurement, shipping, setup, onboarding, and offboarding remotely. Audit and compliance experience: At least two years in an environment subject to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable external audits, with direct responsibility for producing technical evidence and addressing findings. Backup and recovery ownership: Demonstrated responsibility for cloud data backup and recovery, including performing and documenting restore tests rather than relying solely on monitoring dashboards. SaaS and AI identity management: Experience managing SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, and domain verification for SaaS or AI platforms, or a proven ability to learn new platforms quickly. Operational mindset: Willingness to handle all aspects of a lean IT function, from routine support tickets and password resets to laptop shipping, security administration, policy writing, and runbook development. Communication and problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and explain technical risks and recommendations clearly. Preferred framework knowledge: Familiarity with ISO/IEC 42001, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), or comparable AI and security governance frameworks. Preferred certifications: Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102), Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), Endpoint Administrator (MD-102), Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200), Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), or equivalent expertise. No specific combination of certifications is required. Benefits Annual base salary: $135,000–$170,000, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Fully remote work: Work remotely within the United States in a cloud-first environment. Flexible paid time off: Flexible PTO to support personal needs and time away from work. Paid parental leave: Six weeks of paid parental leave for eligible full-time, exempt employees. Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision plans, including an employee-only medical option with premiums fully paid by the company. Virtual healthcare: Access to Teladoc virtual healthcare services. Disability coverage: Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance. Life insurance: Employer-paid life insurance coverage. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with an employer match. Additional benefits: Access to legal services and other voluntary benefit options. Direct leadership access: Report directly to the CEO, with an opportunity to shape IT operations and security priorities. Autonomy and ownership: Build and improve the IT and information security function while working closely with compliance leadership and a cross-functional security steering group.
