As part of our Research team, you will help us understand how artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and new business models are reshaping the competitive landscape across Manufacturing, AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations), and Media and Entertainment. This is an experienced individual contributor role on a small, highly collaborative team. You will support market and competitive intelligence work across Autodesk Research while independently leading selected projects and workstreams. Competitive intelligence is a team effort, and you will need to move comfortably between leading, contributing, and supporting depending on the needs of each project. You will help Research teams understand the markets they are working in, turn complex information into clear recommendations, and improve the systems and processes that allow the team to take on more work. You will use AI and automation tools to work more efficiently while applying judgment about when deeper analysis, validation, or human expertise is needed. Location: We support hybrid work, and you work near our Boston, Massachusetts, Toronto, Canada, or San Francisco, CA offices. This role follows East Coast hours. Responsibilities Conduct market and competitive analysis across Autodesk's industries, tracking signals such as AI developments, competitors, startups, funding, talent movement, product releases, partnerships, research, and regulatory changes Distinguish meaningful change from noise and communicate clearly when the evidence does not support a new conclusion Partner with Research teams to define target markets, map competitive landscapes, size opportunities, identify gaps, and test market and commercial assumptions Take the lead on coordinating research and intelligence projects as needed, bringing structure to ambiguous questions, facilitating discussions, managing contributors and timelines, keeping teams on track, and ensuring conclusions are captured in clear final deliverables Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into clear points of view, challenging assumptions, reconciling conflicting perspectives, and connecting findings to broader implications for Autodesk Produce recurring competitive intelligence and fast-turn analysis for leaders, translating complex market and technical developments into concise, executive-ready briefs, presentations, and market maps Own the operating discipline for the team's intelligence work, managing priorities, timelines, research systems, source quality, and follow-through while improving processes that make the team more efficient and scalable Use AI tools to accelerate research, analysis, and content development while applying judgment about when human verification, primary research, or subject matter expertise is required Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, business intelligence, strategy, or a related analytical field Strong analytical judgment and the ability to turn incomplete or fragmented information into a defensible point of view Experience with market analysis, competitive research, market sizing, customer or expert research, or commercial opportunity assessment Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects or significant workstreams involving multiple stakeholders and deadlines Proven ability to collaborate effectively on analytical work, including contributing to projects led by others and bringing together different perspectives into a coherent output Strong organizational skills and experience improving a process, workflow, or system Experience with structured research tools such as Airtable and market data sources such as PitchBook, CB Insights, Crunchbase, or similar platforms Professional experience using AI tools in research or analytical workflows, with an understanding of where additional validation or human review is required Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to senior stakeholders Bachelor's degree in business, economics, data science, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Manufacturing, AECO, or Media and Entertainment Experience supporting research, incubation, innovation, product strategy, or new business initiatives Experience with customer discovery, market validation, go-to-market analysis, or business case development Working knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts and their business implications Experience with Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools MBA or equivalent business experience Learn More About Autodesk Welcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $83,000 and $148,830. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
