The University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part time Outreach Specialist to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Outreach Specialist 1 supports in developing and implementing new and existing public education and outreach programs serving as a liaison to the community. Moreover, the incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and effectiveness. The NHBS Interviewer/HIV Counselor is responsible for screening participants, conducting interviews using notebook computers, providing appropriate referrals to participants, and providing HIV counseling and testing. The NHBS Interviewer/HIV counselor will be available, if necessary, outside of normal working hours. Core responsibilities: Supports in the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs. Works with community-based organizations to plan promotional educational and other events targeted towards designing an increased awareness in the community. Aids with the preparation and distribution of public health education and navigation manuals. Develops professional relationships with mental health providers, researchers, and community members. Collaborates with other members of the team on special projects and events. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required. Experience with outreach/HIV counseling among target population preferred. Florida HIV Counseling Certification preferred. Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
