What You Will Do: At Independent Software, as a Senior Information Systems Security Officer, you will provide senior-level cybersecurity and information assurance support for classified systems supporting IC and DoD missions. You will maintain and strengthen system security posture through security operations, risk and vulnerability assessments, configuration management, security documentation, and system authorization activities. In this role, you will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure systems remain compliant with applicable security requirements while identifying vulnerabilities and implementing improvements that strengthen system resilience. Key Responsibilities:   Support information assurance activities and enforce applicable security policies, standards, and methodologies Maintain the security posture of classified information systems and support daily security operations Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments in support of system authorization activities Evaluate security solutions and controls for systems processing classified information Manage security configuration and assess the security impact of system changes Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) and other required security documentation throughout the system lifecycle Support implementation and maintenance of security measures and countermeasures Work with technical teams to ensure compliance with applicable security controls, policies, and procedures Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend proactive improvements to strengthen system security and resilience Required Skills and Qualifications:   10+ years of in-depth experience as an ISSO or a combination of ISSO and other security-related roles supporting IC or DoD programs of similar scope, type, and complexity Strong knowledge of information assurance, system security, vulnerability assessment, risk analysis, and security authorization Experience developing and maintaining SSPs and related security documentation Knowledge of applicable cybersecurity frameworks, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures Experience with customer security tools, corporate repositories, playbooks, and guidelines Operational understanding of servers, Information Assurance technologies, internetworking protocols, and services Strong understanding of security configuration management and assessing the security impact of system changes Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders Education and Experience: Candidates must meet one of the following:   Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security, or a related discipline plus 12 or more years of relevant experience An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a case-by-case basis Must have 10+ years of direct experience as an ISSO or a combination of ISSO and other security-related roles supporting IC or DoD programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity Certifications:    Required:  DoD 8140.03 compliance with IAM Level II or IAT Level III (CASP, CISSP, or Associate) Clearance Requirement:   Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role Why Choose Independent Software: At Independent Software, our people are the mission.
