Senior Software Eng, Amazon Robotics at Amazon

Join us in building intelligent robotic systems that perceive, learn, and act in the real world. You'll develop the computer vision, machine learning, and control systems that power our first-of-its-kind robotic workcells, working across prototypes in the lab and deployed systems at scale. As a Software Engineer on the Vulcan team, you'll work on end-to-end robotic systems that combine hardware and software innovation. Your day might include designing and implementing computer vision algorithms for object detection, developing machine learning models for robotic decision-making, or optimizing motion planning systems for real-world deployment. You'll partner with hardware engineers, roboticists, and data scientists to integrate your software into functioning workcells. You'll also participate in monitoring system performance, conducting A/B tests on new features, and troubleshooting issues as they arise in both controlled lab environments and production deployments. This role offers the opportunity to see your code directly impact physical systems and to learn from an interdisciplinary team building every layer of the robotic stack. Key job responsibilities - Design, develop, and deploy computer vision and machine learning systems that enable robots to perceive and grasp their environment - Build and optimize robotic control algorithms and motion planning systems for real-world deployment scenarios - Implement end-to-end monitoring, fault detection, and diagnostic tools to ensure robotic systems operate reliably at scale - Conduct large-scale model training, simulation, and A/B testing to validate and improve system performance - Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate software components with robotic hardware and manage the full deployment lifecycle A day in the life Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and children. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include: 1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage 2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options 3. Paid Time Off (PTO) 4. 401(k) Plan If you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you’re passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply! About the team We are building the next generation of robotic automation at Amazon. Our team combines software engineers, roboticists, and hardware specialists working toward a common vision of intelligent, adaptable robotic systems. We serve internal Amazon operations and external customers who rely on our robotic solutions to improve their productivity and efficiency. Over the coming years, we're focused on expanding the capabilities of our robotic fleet—making systems more autonomous, more adaptable to different environments, and more reliable at scale. As a member of this team, you'll help shape how robots learn and operate in complex, real-world settings. We value partnership, continuous learning, and the diverse perspectives that help us solve hard technical problems collectively.
