About the Role Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Senior Systems Infrastructure Engineer to support a critical Sponsor office responsible for building, operating, and securing hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure and services. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining an enterprise ecosystem hosting dozens of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), Government off-the-shelf (GOTS), and custom applications alongside a large-scale data lake. Operating across on-premises data centers and commercial cloud (AWS) environments, you will lead complex engineering initiatives, deliver Tier 2 through Tier 4 problem resolution, maintain rigorous security baselines (DISA STIGs), and ensure continuous mission availability. Key Responsibilities Lead and perform systems engineering efforts across Windows and Linux servers, workstations, storage platforms, and virtualization environments. Provide in-depth Tier 2 through Tier 4 engineering support, root-cause troubleshooting, and problem resolution for mission technology products and applications in a 24/7 environment. Perform engineering, configuration, and Tier 3/4 maintenance of virtualization infrastructure, including VMware vCenter, VMware NSX-T, virtual servers, virtual desktops, and automation solutions. Build, configure, and maintain Windows servers in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and on-premises environments, ensuring Windows Group Policy and configuration standards align with Sponsor security posture. Operate, administer, and maintain core enterprise services, including Active Directory, Domain Name System (DNS), Distributed File System (DFS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Perform data center management operations, including physical capacity planning, hardware racking/stacking, commissioning, cabling/circuit labeling, inventory tracking, decommissioning, and secure hardware destruction. Coordinate engineering projects by performing technical risk assessments, de-conflicting implementation schedules, and resolving technical challenges across stakeholder teams. Gather and analyze performance, capacity, and utilization metrics across infrastructure components, proactively alerting the Sponsor when operational thresholds are reached. Manage service requests, system changes, and incident lifecycle tracking using ServiceNow.  Required Experience/Clearance Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph required. 5+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, infrastructure operations, and multi-tier support in federal or enterprise environments. Demonstrated experience providing in-depth Tier 2 through Tier 4 support and complex problem resolution for enterprise technology products and applications. Demonstrated engineering experience leading and supporting Linux servers and workstations. Hands-on experience performing configuration, deployment, and administration of VMware vCenter and VMware NSX-T. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining Active Directory, DNS, DFS, and DHCP services. Proven track record implementing and maintaining Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) in accordance with government security posture. Hands-on experience monitoring, maintaining, and securing infrastructure using Splunk, Check_MK / Checkmk, McAfee ePO, and BitLocker. Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure requirements, changes, and incidents using ServiceNow. Demonstrated experience leading technical risk assessments, implementation coordination, and resolving engineering conflicts across cross-functional teams.  Desire Experience We encourage all candidates who meet the basic requirements to apply, even if you do not have any of the following experience: Hands-on administration and engineering experience with Rocky Linux. Experience building, deploying, and optimizing virtual desktops using VMware Horizon VDI. Experience creating and presenting technical architecture and system documentation briefings to government review and approval boards. Prior experience serving in an Engineering Lead or Team Lead capacity for large IT modernization projects. Demonstrated experience coordinating, scheduling, and deconflicting complex IT engineering deliverables. Familiarity with Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks and automated compliance auditing. Experience executing Sponsor accountable property management, chain of custody, and property destruction processes for network encryption devices and hardware. Experience spanning Tier 1 through Tier 4 full lifecycle incident management and systems troubleshooting.
